BARGE is the most fun you can have while playing poker.#
BARGE is the Big August Rec.Gambling Excursion, typically held the
week leading up to the first Saturday in August, in Las Vegas, Nevada. BARGE
is also an online community of poker enthusiasts associated with that event.
Our event features several poker tournaments, as well as a wide variety of
non-poker related activities including dinners, karaoke, a golf outing, a sushi
outing, a fun run, room escapes, shows, and shopping. Activities can vary from
year to year and are based on whatever people choose to organize.
In recent years, we have also hosted a winter event, EMBARGO.
Our members communicate throughout the year via email, Facebook, Twitter, and
other means (including in person). The BARGE event began in 1991 and
membership has grown significantly over the years. Our members come from all
professions and ages. The poker accomplishments of our members include over 20
WSOP bracelet winners as well as other major tournaments (WPT, WSOP
Circuit). Although many of our members have backgrounds in technology, science,
and the law, we welcome and encourage people to join regardless of their
professional backgrounds or poker accomplishments.
Because you enjoy playing poker and want to be part of a diverse community of
fun-loving people. We all enjoy the game of poker. We claim several WSOP
bracelet winners among our membership. We also have novice players. We host
tournaments and live games during our events. No one is pressured to play above
their bankroll. We openly exchange ideas and many of our members have greatly
enhanced their poker skills via BARGE. But the most important reason to join
is: it’s the most fun you will ever have playing poker! BARGE is what poker
should be!

Time to Order BARGE Chips for 2025, 2023, 2021, and 2020!
We’re pleased to announce that the Reformed BARGE Chip Committee (BCC2.0) is making sets for BARGE 2025, as well as make-up sets for 2020, 2021, and 2023.
Orders are now open at this link. Ordering will be open through June 1. At that time, we will place the order with our vendor, and expect to have chips ready in time for BARGE 2025.
As is tradition, all of the sets have a special purple chip with the previous main event winner’s picture. These chips are not available as part of the sample set. (These are not pictured below but they are in the Gallery pages.)

Each player is dealt 5 cards and separates them into a regular Hold’em hand and a Super Hold’em hand (3 cards, play 0 1 or 2). The pot is split between the best Hold’em and the best Super Hold’em hand. This game will be played limit.

Home Poker Chips (company)
During the time Patrick Milligan was the designer for BCC chips, he also worked for a company called Home Poker Chips (HPC). We have some of HPC’s brochures and reference material available below, reproduced here with their kind permission.
Chipco manufactured chips sold by HPC. While Chipco’s product is generally well-regarded, state and federal tax authorities had issues with their management.
The Chipco name is now held by a new company that we do not have experience with.

BARGE is the Big August Rec.Gambling Excursion (to Las Vegas). Except in years in which it isn’t in August, then BARGE is the Big Annual Rec.Gambling Excursion (to Las Vegas). For recent years, it’s been in late July more often than not.
Back when it was usually cited as the Big August Rec.Gambling Excursion, but it happened in July, someone invited New York Times Bestselling Author Dave Barry. He declined. Moreover, he mocked us for the event title, and said that it should be BJRGE instead.
